Transfigured: to have transformed the outward appearance of; to have converted into a different form, state or substance.
Transfigured explores how the mediums of graphic design can be used out of context as abstract forms. It creates a blur between the digital space and physical space, creating a hyper-digital environment that engulfs the viewer in abstract forms, bold colour and light. The installation strips back design into three main elements: colour, pattern and space. The works take moiré patterns commonly found in physical forms such as wet cloth and abstract them down into the building blocks of the digital space, pixels. Through this, the show aims to explore multiple layers of transformation and transitions with the works acting as bridges between the digital and physical. Transfigured aims to provide a space to contemplate the nature of design mediums and language.
